2004 Chrysler Pacifica Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Oil Pan on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: You should first take off the battery's negative tie, then loosen the radiator close out panel and radiator core support and lastly detach the fans, since refrigerant recovery is not needed in this situation. After that, take off the top compressor bolts and, with the vehicle raised and supported, remove the lower mounting bolts and place a retaining strap under the compressor. Disconnect the bracket, structural collar and inspection shield of the oil pan and transmission housing and the air conditioning compressor. Let the engine oil flow out, unscrew the tube that shows the oil level, remove the fasteners on the oil pan and take out the pan carefully, since you will probably find a small bit of oil stuck in it. Detach the oil pan gasket, wipe down the inside of the oil pan and everything around it and apply a 1/8 inch line of Mopar Engine RTV GEN II to the gap between the oil pump housing and rear seal retainer. First, install the gasket in the engine block, then place the sump and tighten its bolts slightly with your finger. Tighten the M8 oil pan alignment bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.), afterwards tighten all the M6 bolts to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.) and then the other M8 bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.). After that, connect the inspection shield to the engine block and transmission bell housing, the engine oil indicator tube and the structural collar. Fit the bolts to the A/C compressor mounting bracket and turn them until the force reaches 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.), then place the lower A/C compressor and screw in its bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.). Set the automobile down and screw in the upper A/C compressor mounting bolts, turning them until they reach 28 Nm or 250 inch lbs. After reinstalling the oil indicator tube, radiator fans, core support and close out panel, pour the right amount of oil into the engine crankcase and link the negative battery cable.
