2004 Chrysler Sebring Air Bag Parts and Q&A
Q: What Needs Inspection and Replacement After an Air Bag Deployment on 2004 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Once the Driver air bag has been used following a crash, all drivers must change the Driver air bag, Clock Spring Assembly, Steering Wheel and Steering Column Assembly, inspecting the rest of the air bag and vehicle systems for any obvious damage. After installing a Passenger air bag, both the Passenger air bag and the Instrument Panel and Pad Assembly should be replaced and proper inspection and replacement are needed for other protected components. Should a Curtain air bag be deployed, the Curtain air bag Assembly, Headliner, A, B and C-Pillar Trim on the deploying side and Satellite Acceleration Sensor (Sas) must be exchanged, in addition to inspecting the rest of the parts. Any time the driver or passenger's front air bags inflate, both the Jr41 - Front Seat Belt Retractors and Jr27 - Front Seat Belt Buckle with integral Tensioners must be replaced. Also, any seat belts that appear cut, torn, frayed or damaged should be replaced. You should check the tensioner connector for any damage and get a new wiring set if it's worn out. To clean up, start by rolling or folding the air bag closed into its mounting location and tape the ripped cover over the opened air bag if this step can be done. Clean the vehicle's inside with a vacuum cleaner from the outside in to protect yourself and make sure to vacuum the heater and A/C outlets too. When the blower was on Recirc during air bag deployment, turn it on to low speed and suck out any powder dusting remaining at the heater and A/C vents, repeating the cleaning as often as needed.
