To take out the passenger air bag, raise the hood and then free the negative battery cable. Add two minutes in between shocks so the system reserve capacitor does not discharge all at once and keep you safe. Next up, get rid of the glove box and extract both holders securing the passenger air bag to the assembly above it in the glove box area. Unplug both passenger air bag squib connectors from the crash sensor. After that, eliminate the top pad that covers the instrument panel. Raise the slotted or looped tabs on one side of the passenger air bag and lift the bag up and out of the top pad. Finally, press down and toward yourself on the other side of the passenger air bag to unhook the remaining five fasteners.

Place the Passenger Air Bag into the top pad first and push one PAB hook into each of the retaining windows. With the PAB in your hands, push firmly down on the top pad so that the hooks join with the loops of top pad. Following this, slide in the instrument panel top pad. Retain the PAB to the instrument panel assembly in the glove box opening by using the fasteners and tightening them load to 9.5 Nm (84 in. lbs.). Connect the two PAB squib connectors and then fix the glove box into place. Linking the negative cable from the battery to the system before the test can result in very serious or lethal injuries.
