2004 Dodge Durango Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Front Wiper Arm on 2004 Dodge Durango?
A: To change the front wiper arms, first lift the wiper up to its adjacent position so the blade is up and out of sight. This will help you release the arm's tension. Get rid of the nuts that secure the front wiper arm or links to the pivot shaft or shafts. If you need to, use a battery terminal puller to detach the front wiper arm or links from the wiper shaft and afterward remove the wiper arm pivot end or links from the pivot shaft. Set the ignition switch to On, turn the wiper motor to its off position and then switch the multi-function control knob all the way to Off before installing the wiper arms. Let your wipers finish moving, then put the ignition switch into the Off position. Make sure the wiper motor is in park as you connect the wiper arms to the pivot shafts, so the lower edge of the blade matches the wiper alignment lines hidden in the upper blacked-out area on the lower windshield. Ease pressure on the front wipers' springs by lifting the wiper arm slightly and gently pushing its ends down over the pivot shaft or shafts. Using a torque wrench, screw in and fasten the nut or nuts that hold the wiper arm or links onto the pivot shaft(s) with 35 newtons (26 foot pounds). Make your windshield glass wet, use your front wipers, press the wiper switch to Off and review the position of the wipers to make sure they are set properly.
