Before you service the windshield wiper arm, first lift the front wiper arm up and away from the glass so that the arm's spring tension is released from the wiper pivot shaft connection. Take off the nuts that are holding the front wiper arm or links to the pivot shaft or shafts. Use a matching battery terminal puller if required to pull the wiper arm or link away from the pivot shaft or shafts, then take out the wiper arm pivot ends. Before attempting to install, press the ignition switch to On and move the multi-function switch control knob all the way to Off. After the wiper pivots have stopped, turn the ignition back to Off. Fit the wiper arms into the pivot shafts at the front of the car, aligning the link or end at the bottom of the arm with the vertical shafts, so that the skinny end of the wiper lies in the wiper lines concealed in the upper blackout area of the lower windshield. Relax the wiper arm by gently raising it, then squeeze the arm or links around the pivot shaft or shafts. The wiper arm or links should be tightened to the pivot shaft or shafts, using the correct nuts and screws to a torque of 35 N.m (26 ft. lbs.). Start by wetting the glass on your windshield, then run the front wipers, switch off the wiper button and test to see if the wiper arms are in the right position.
