You should raise and support the car to service the muffler. Smear heat valve lubricant generously onto the clamp nuts and let them rest for 5 minutes. Remove the muffler hangers, undo the clamps and nuts and then remove the muffler. During assembly, don't overtighten the clamps or muffler and only then attach the hanger hooks. Attach the clamp nuts to create 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) torque, lower the vehicle, start the motor and then check for exhaust leaks and a minimum of 25.4 mm (1.0 in.) of space between the exhaust system and the car body or frame.
