2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Antenna Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace the Antenna Cable on the Instrument Panel on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The first step is to get rid of the negative battery cable before changing the instrument panel antenna cable. Remove the scuff plate from the right front door sill and take off the trim panel from the right inner cowl side. Under the passenger side of the instrument panel near the right cowl side inner panel, gently twist the two halves of the metal connector to pull the antenna coaxial cable connector apart, without pulling on the cable. Pull the connector out of the mounting hole in the radio receiver mounting tab on the passenger side part of the instrument panel, followed by unhooking the actual antenna cable from the radio. Separate the antenna cable by tugging the connector on the main unit and get rid of the passenger air bag module from the instrument panel. Loosen the hook on the radio mount in the instrument panel opposite the glove box opening and those on top of the duct, then take out the antenna cable through the instrument panel. Installation requires you to place the antenna cable on the instrument panel, push the locator tabs above the glove box opening and insert the retainer into the hole at the top of the radio bracket. Securely connect the passenger side air bag module and radio receiver to the instrument panel and afterwards place the antenna cable retainer inside the wire harness mounting tab found under the passenger side of the instrument panel. Next, plug the parts of the antenna coaxial cable back into each other, place the trim panel on the right inner cowl side, the scuff plate on the right front door sill and reconnect the negative battery cable.
