2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee TPMS Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Retrain a TPMS Sensor After Wheel Rotation or Replacement on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before retraining the tire pressure sensors which you need to do after a wheel turn or a replaced sensor, get the Re-learn Magnet, Special Tool 8821. Press the Menu button on your Evic until "Retrain Tire Sensors - No" appears and then use the Step button to select "Yes." Both first and remaining sensors have strict timers: 60 seconds for the first sensor and 30 seconds for the others; if either run out, the Evic will end the training without saving any data. Should the table say "Training Aborted," go forward with the vehicle by at least one foot and follow the retraining steps again. With the Menu button pressed, the display advises you, "Train Left Front Tire." The order to connect and tune all five sensors is Left Front, Right Front, Right Rear, Left Rear and Spare (should the vehicle have it). First, put the magnet over the left front-tire valve stem; you'll hear the vehicle horn chirp after about 5 seconds which means the calibration for that sensor is complete. Repeat this action by taking out the magnet one more time and then following the rest of the sensor instructions in the Evic until the Evic informs you all sensors are ready. After the Training Complete message is shown, pressing Step, C/t, Reset or Menu button will finish the training.
