You should raise your vehicle on a hoist and place an oil container under the oil filter before continuing. Properly secure the can with the strap on the base lock seam, under the base plate, whenever you're servicing the filter. Screw the filter wrench onto the filter and move it counterclockwise to remove it. Before installing the filter, sweep or wipe the system surface to make certain it is smooth and clean. Dip the new oil filter gasket in engine oil and screw the filter onto the engine until the gasket makes contact. Then use a torque wrench to tighten the filter to 15 ft. lbs.
