2004 Jeep Liberty Starter Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Starter Motor on 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: The first step is to cut off the negative battery cable and place support under the vehicle before servicing or repairing the starter motor. Unfasten the 2 bolts connecting the left exhaust downpipe to the crossover pipe and let the pipe down just enough to help you take out the front propeller shaft. Subsequently, uninstall the propeller shaft in front, then loosen the 2 bolts next to the starter that hold the heat shield, along with the starter heat shield nut in front and finally remove the heat shield. Unplug the solenoid wire from its terminal and take the battery cable out of its stud on the starter solenoid. Undo the 2 starter mounting bolts, align the starter with the rear of the car and move it until the solenoid is directly below it. Emerge the starter from the vehicle by passing it under the link between the exhaust pipe and the transmission bellhousing. For installation, set the front of the starter at the rear, rotate the solenoid lower and thread the starter down by passing it between the exhaust pipe and transmission bellhousing. Place the starter into the bellhousing and use the torque specifications to install the 2 bolts. Once you've replaced the battery cable and nut on the starter solenoid stud, check and confirm that the torque specifications are reserved and now you can connect the solenoid wire to the solenoid terminal. Mount the starter heat shield and at the same time place the nut at the front and the two bolts at the starter's sides. Install the front propeller shaft, bolt the left exhaust downpipe to the cross pipes, bring the vehicle down and don't forget to connect the negative battery cable again.
