The first step to servicing or repairing a starter motor on the 2.4L 4-cylinder engine is to release the negative terminal cable, raise the car and support it during the task. Get rid of the solenoid wire from the solenoid terminal and take the battery cable off the stud on the starter solenoid. After that, unscrew the two bolts that hold the starter and pull it out of the car. Position the starter in the bellhousing and put in the two bolts, keeping the torque specified. Join the battery cable and nut to the stud on the starter solenoid, using the right torque and then attach the solenoid wire to its terminal. When finished, raise the vehicle and attach the negative battery cable again.
