2004 Jeep Liberty Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install and Remove a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) on 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) fastens to the throttle body and may be taken out by first unplugging the TPS connector, then removing the two screws holding it and pulling out the TPS. When installing, fit the TPS at the back of the throttle body, so the throttle shaft fits into its socket and the sensor turns a little; if the connection is firm and the sensor does not turn, place the navigating shaft on the side opposite the socket tangs, as light tension will be applied to the TPS when it's rotated. After you secure the TPS and tighten the retaining screws to 7 Nm or 60 in. lbs., reconnect the connector, move the throttle by hand to check for binding, connect the air cleaner tube and start the engine.
