2004 Jeep Liberty Wheel Hub Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Wheel Hub on 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: When servicing the hub, first lift the vehicle, then take off the tire and wheel group, after that, clear the caliper adapter, making sure the caliper isn't touching the hose. After that, take out the disc brake rotor, the wheel speed sensor and the bracket holding the sensor wiring. If the vehicle has four-wheel drive, remove the axle shaft nut and all three hub/bearing assembly mounting bolts and take out the hub/bearing. The installation should start with putting the hub/bearing assembly into place and using the three bolts to secure it, set at 130 Nm (96 ft. lbs.). If four-wheel drive is available, put on the axle shaft nut and tighten it to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Attach the wheel speed sensor bracket and then set the wheel speed sensor onto the hub. Tighten the screw once more to 13.5 Nm (10 ft. lbs.). Following this, replace the disc brake rotor, then the disc brake caliper adapter, secure the nut to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) and set the wheel back in place.
