2005 Chrysler Crossfire Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Crankshaft Seal on 2005 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: First, take off the engine cooling fan and its shroud, the vibration damper and the accessory drive belt, after disconnecting the battery's negative cable. Drape a cloth over the crankshaft and loosen the front crankshaft oil seal with the right instrument. Make sure to clean any burrs away and remove any deposits of oil from the oil seal's mounting surface as well as the crankshaft's circumference and sealing lip first. Join the Special Tool 9103 with the Insertion Tool by slipping the crankshaft seal onto the tool and ensuring the guide slot on the Insertion Tool lines up with the key on the crankshaft. Apply the insertion tool to the timing chain cover, move the vibration damper bolt into the cover and push with the bolt to insert the seal tightly. Once you take out the Special Tools, set in place the vibration damper, accessory drive belt and engine cooling fan and shroud. After that, reconnect the ground cable at the battery.
