2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser ABS Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the ABS Control Module in the MK20E on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: In an Mk20e, first remove vacuum from the power brake booster by pumping the brake pedal 4-5 times with the engine off. Open the air cleaner cover and lift the air cleaner housing out of its spot. Remove the negative battery cable, separate it from the car, pull back the power box and stow it away. Carefully remove the connector where the center wire harness is attached to the brake fluid level switch and make sure to label the brake tubes as primary and secondary so you don't mix them up. Remove both brake tubes from the master cylinder and fit plugs into where they come out. Take off both brake tubes from the Hcu and tidy up the environment around the master cylinder link to the power brake booster. Undo the two nuts connecting the master cylinder and the booster and then slide it out. Release your grip on the brake tubes where they meet the Hcu and on the 24-way connector to the controller antilock brake (Cab). Take out the three bolts that hold the Icu to the bracket and remove the unit from your vehicle. First, set up the Icu in the desired place on its mounting bracket and fasten it with three bolts, with a torque of 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.). First, install the seal in the 24-way connector, then push it into the Cab socket and lock it securely into place. Position the four brake tubes into the Hcu's ports and tighten each to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.). Rinse the power brake booster, place the master cylinder on it and attach the mounting nuts by turning them approximately 18 Nm (160 inch lbs.). Link the main and secondary brake tubes from the master cylinder to the Hcu semi-tight, after that, put the joints into the master cylinder connector then tighten to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.). Bring together the brake fluid switch wires, add the power distribution center, put back the negative battery cable and reattach the air cleaner housing and cover. Use the Drbiii to begin the Cab setup, fill your master cylinder, bleed the base and Abs hydraulic systems and perform a check on the road before testing the systems.
