2005 Dodge Durango Drive Shaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Drive Shaft for Rear on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: Before servicing or repairing the rear propeller shaft, place the vehicle in neutral and raise it on a hoist. Make a line across both the pinion flange and propeller shaft flange. Take out the flange bolts, then glide the slip yoke away from the transmission/transfer case shaft and take away the propeller shaft. For installation, fit the slip yoke on top of the output shaft and match up the markings shown on the flanges. Make sure to install new flange bolts and tighten them to 115 Nm, worn out flange bolts should not be used. Install a Loctite patch with the new bolts when possible; if you cannot get new bolts, remove the old ones, clean them and coat the thread with Loctite 242.
