  A: The first step is to tap the outside of the bearing cap with a drift to loosen the snap ring. Unfasten snap rings 1 from each end of the yoke and set the yoke so that that grease fitting, if present, faces upwards. Under the yoke, slide a socket that is wide enough for the cap onto a press and then above the yoke, insert a socket with an opening that is smaller than the cap onto the upper bearing cap to press the lower cap through. If you can't pull out the bearing cap by hand after pressing, gently tap on the yoke ear near it to push it out. With the bearing cap gone, tip the yoke into the press and use it until the remaining bearing cap can be removed from cross 1. Keep the cross or bearing cap aligned while taking it out to not let it touch and harm the inside wall of the yoke bore.
