2005 Dodge Durango Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Washer Pump on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: When working on the windshield washer pump, break the connection from the car battery negative cable. Pull out the splash shield at the front of the left front wheel house by pushing between it and the bumper support and access the rearward facing lower side of the washer reservoir that way. The first step is to take off the wire harness connector from the top section of your pump/motor, followed by removing the front washer hose from its pump outlet, so that the washer fluid can drain in a clear container and be used once more. After that, take the rear washer hose off from the outboard pump outlet nipple. Lift up on the washer pump/motor housing at its top and move it to the back firmly, so the connector comes out of the reservoir. Then, secure the washer pump/motor in place and, pulling on the lower part of the housing back and forth, separate the pump inlet nipple from the rubber seal in the reservoir. You need to pull out and get rid of the rubber grommet seal mounted in the hole of the reservoir under the washer pump. Before installing the washer pump, insert a newly bought rubber grommet seal into the bottom of the washer reservoir. Press the barbed inlet nipple on the right half of the washer pump downwards as you press into the rubber grommet seal on the reservoir. Place the snap post in the reservoir and be sure the tip of the post is aligned with the receptacle in the motor housing. Then, with even pressure, press hard on the top of the housing until the snap post snaps into place. After that, join the rear washer hose to the outboard pump outlet and attach the front washer hose to the inboard pump outlet. Attach the wire harness connector at the pump motor's top, fill the reservoir with the drained washer fluid and reconnect the negative battery cable.
