2006 Dodge Durango Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Washer Pump on 2006 Dodge Durango?
A: The windshield washer pump should be serviced only after disconnecting the battery negative cable. Pull out the washer solution on the rear of the reservoir by reaching past the front bumper support and left wheel house cover. Take out the wire harness connector from the top of the washer pump/motor unit and detach the front washer hose from the pump outlet nipple so the fluid drains into a container for reuse. After that, disconnect the washer hose that runs to the outboard pump outlet nipple. Pull the washer pump/motor housing backward while holding the top to remove the snap post from the receptacle in the reservoir. After that, hold the lower half of the pump/motor housing and, using a pulling and easing motion back and forth, move the unit away enough so that the pump inlet nipple is pulled out of the seal line in the reservoir. Remove and throw away the rubber grommet seal found inside the washer pump mounting hole in the reservoir. You need to insert a new rubber seal for grommets into the washer pump opening in the reservoir throughout the installation. Plug the washer pump/motor unit's barbed inlet nipple into the rubber grommet in the reservoir, then press down on the bottom of the pump until the nipple is all the way in. Set the snap post on the motor shell at the top of the washer reservoir and push down hard on the top of the motor housing until it locks into place. First, join the washer hose from the rear to the outlet nipple on the outboard pump and then attach the front hose to the inboard pump's outlet nipple. Connect the wire harness to the top of the pump motor, add the drained washer fluid back into the reservoir and lastly rehook the battery negative cable.
