2005 Dodge Durango Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Air Bag Sensor Located in the D-Pillar on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: Service of the impact sensor in the D-pillar must begin with disconnecting and isolating the negative battery cable and letting the system capacitor discharge for two minutes. With your finger, carefully pop out the quarter trim panel from the lower D-pillar and take the screw out holding the side impact sensor to the inner quarter panel in front of the D-pillar. Unplug the body wire harness connection from the sensor's connector receptacle and take the sensor out of its position in the inner quarter panel. The side impact sensor should be securely attached, using a good condition rivet nut during installation. Place the side impact sensor against the inner quarter panel, link both connectors to each other and secure the anti-rotation pin inside the quarter panel's hole. Attach the sensor to the inner quarter panel with a screw tightened to 6 N.m (50 in. lbs.) and then install the lower D-pillar trim panel. Keep the negative battery cable unattached while you wait to run the supplemental restraint system verification test which should happen only after servicing any SRS component.
