2004 Dodge Durango Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Washer Pump on 2004 Dodge Durango?
A: Looking at the windshield washer pump, begin this work by cutting the negative wire from the battery. Get to the washer reservoir's lower backside by placing your hand between the left front wheel house splash shield and the front bumper support. Unplug the wire harness connector found at the top of the washer pump/motor unit and then remove the front washer hose from its nipple to let the washer fluid discharge into a clean bucket you can reuse. After that, detach the rear washer hose from the pump's outlet nipple. Take hold of the top of the wash pump/motor housing and tug it gently back until the snap post comes out of the receptacle in the reservoir. Then, hold onto the lower end of the washer pump/motor housing and twist it back and forth as you pull the pump unit rearward until the pump nipple displaces the rubber seal inside the reservoir. Get rid of the rubber grommet seal placed in the hole on the reservoir for the washer pump. For installing, insert a new rubber grommet into the hole where the washer pump is mounted. Position the barbed nipple of your washer pump/motor unit inside the reservoir's rubber grommet seal and press down gently and continuously on its pump housing until it is fully inserted. Snap the post of the snap post tester into the receptacle of the washer reservoir by pressing the top of the motor housing. Connect the rear washer hose to the outlet on the outside pump and then connect the front hose to the pump on the inside. Link the wire harness to the main pump electrical connector, add in the previous washer fluid and then place the battery negative cable back.
