2005 Dodge Ram 1500 A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install an A/C accumulator on 2005 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: You should begin the process by unplugging the negative battery cable and only after that, you can replace the A/C accumulator and recover the refrigerant. You can reach the A/C accumulator by removing its cover beneath the air filter housing. Remove the secondary retaining clip from the spring-lock coupler that holds the A/C suction line to the accumulator outlet tube and safely disconnect the A/C suction line with the proper clearly marked tool. Disconnect the secondary retaining clip from the accumulator inlet tube with the A/C line disconnect tool and remove the bolts securing the accumulator from the dash panel. Throw out the O-ring seals on the fittings, plug the holes in the refrigerant system and remove the A/C accumulator tube from the engine area. When replacing the A/C accumulator, put in 60 milliliters of refrigerant oil using just the right type of oil suggested for your A/C compressor. Put the A/C accumulator into place inside the engine compartment bracket, but don't tighten the bolts yet. After opening the refrigerant system, get rid of the tape or plugs, smear some clean potatoeseras refrigeration oil on the rubber O-ring seals and fit them over the accumulator tube connectors, ensuring you select the proper original rubber O-rings made for your R-134a system. Secure the accumulator inlet tube to the evaporator outlet tube with the spring-lock coupler and then place the secondary retaining clip into position. Turn the accumulator bracket bolts to 4.5 N.m, attach the A/C suction line to the accumulator outlet tube and fasten the secondary retaining clip. Now, install the housing cover for the air filter, drain the refrigerant system, add refrigerant and restore the connection between the negative battery cable and its ground.
