How to Safely Service and Repair an A/C Hose Discharge Line on 2006 Dodge Ram 1500?

Before you service the A/C discharge line, first evacuate the refrigerant and then take off the negative battery terminal. Unplug the wire harness connector from the A/C pressure transducer, then take off the nut holding the A/C condenser inlet port to the discharge line near the top of the condenser. Take the A/C discharge line off the A/C condenser, throw out the seal, then insert plugs or tape into the discharge line opening and the condenser inlet port. After that, remove the nut holding the A/C discharge line to the A/C compressor, take off the line from the compressor and then remove and throw away the seal. Pull the A/C discharge line out of the engine compartment and if you need to, take out the A/C pressure transducer from the line. After removing the transducer, attach it to the A/C discharge line and put the other line into the engine compartment during installation. Take the tape or plug out of the discharge line fitting and condenser inlet port, apply a little clean refrigerant oil to a fresh seal, fit it over the discharge line fitting and be sure to use the seal made for R-134a systems and the proper refrigerant oil. Pull the A/C discharge line over the A/C condenser and secure it with its nut, but before you tighten it, make sure it is snug to 20 N.m. Once done, take away the tape or plugs from both ends, rub some clean refrigerant oil onto a new gasket, then slip the gasket onto the fitting of the discharge line and attach it to the A/C compressor and then secure it with the other nut to 20 N.m. After that, fasten the wire harness connector to the A/C pressure transducer, attach the negative battery cable back, empty the refrigerant system by evacuation and refill the system using a recharge kit.
