- Q: How to Maintain the Front Center Seat Belt on 2005 Dodge Ram 1500?A: Always check that the front center seat belt is properly installed and operating correctly and change any belts that look torn or frayed. Secure any fasteners that aren't firmly snug. To remove the center front seat belt, press the release button with a small screwdriver or ignition key, bring the front seat forward and then grab the seat belt. Slide the stowage tray out of the rear floor section and, using a trim stick, gently remove the front center seat belt bezel from the cab back panel above. Pull off the rubber border from the seat belt webbing and the plastic from the cab back panel. Loose the two screws connecting the belt bracket to the body bracket, then disconnect the belt bracket from the upper cab back panel reinforcement. Then, take out the two screws holding the front center seat belt retractor bracket to the floor panel and remove the entire seat belt and retractor. Place the new center front seat belt and retractor unit on the floor panel, holding it in place using two screws that are tightened to 40 N.m (29 ft.lbs.). Screw the belt bracket onto the body bracket with two screws, each done up to 20 N.m (15 ft.lbs.). Apply the trim to the back of the cab door again, push the webbing through the bezel opening and finally click the bezel in place. Lastly, attach the stowage tray again, push the front seat back and hook the lower anchor latch plate onto the anchor buckle.
