2005 Dodge Ram 3500 Clock Spring Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Clock Spring Assembly on 2005 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: To keep safe when you service or repair the Clock Spring assembly, always turn off the supplemental restraint system on vehicles that have air bags. Separate the battery, ground cable and after that, wait two minutes for the system caps have enough time to discharge. Start by checking that the steering wheel points at a 12-to-1 o'clock position so that the front wheels are facing perfectly forward. Take the Clock Spring off the steering column, then move the rotor counterclockwise to the end of its travel. Turn the rotor about two and one-half times to the counterclockwise direction so the engagement dowel, the yellow rubber boot (7) and the case sides are all at the bottom and the Clock Spring arrows (9) line up. Fit the rotor to the Clock Spring case to maintain proper alignment while waiting to put things back into place. After that, while your front wheels are straight, put the Clock Spring back onto the steering column.
