How to Service and Repair a Front Door Latch Assembly on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

First, pull the front window all the way up, take out the watershield and then work on the latch. Pull the actuator rods attached to the outside door handle away and remove the actuator rod linked to the latch on the interior handle. After that, separate the door wire harness from the latch and remove the three bolts holding the latch to the door. Take out both the latch and the actuator rods at the same time. Whenever needed, take the rods off the actuator. When installing, if the rods were taken off, please fix them to the front door latch and secure the retainers. Secure the door wire harness connector to the latch, after which you position the latch and actuator rods together inside the door. Install and tighten the three bolts hand snug, making sure they reach a torque of 10.5 N.m (95 in.lbs.). Slide on the interior handle actuator and secure it with the retainer and afterwards, bring the actuator rods through the front exterior handle. Put the watershield in the correct place and change the latch on the front door.
