2005 Jeep Liberty Body Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service the Body Control Module on 2005 Jeep Liberty?
A: It is vital to disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable on air bag equipped cars for two minutes, since this lets the system shed its charge before you can work on the BCM. After removing the old BCM, check your system's current settings for features like electronic pinion factor, cab equalization, country code and RKE system using a diagnostic scan t0ol, as all these settings have to be set on the new BCM before returning the vehicle to work. Go ahead and remove the negative battery cable, then remove the Junction Block Module (JBM) located on the driver's side of the instrument panel. Following that, use the included 4 screws to take out the BCM from the Junction Block (JB). At installation, adjust the BCM so it fits on the JB and secure it with screws to 2 N.m or 20 in.lbs. while connected at the BCM/JB interface connector. Lift the JBM into position on the end bracket and then attach the negative cable to the same place on the battery.
