2005 Jeep Liberty Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Coolant Temperature Sensor on a 2.4L Engine on 2005 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before servicing the ECT sensor in a 2.4L engine, partially empty the cooling system to keep you safe from hot and pressurized fluid. After that, unplug the sensor from the electrical connector and remove the sensor from the cylinder head's left front side. Thread sealant should be used on the sensor threads before you install the sensor again. Apply a torque of 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.) and change any engine coolant you lost.
