2005 Jeep Liberty Seat Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Seat Switch on 2005 Jeep Liberty?
A: When working on or fixing the power seat switch, start by taking off and disconnecting the negative battery cable. Gently pull the power seat switch knob away from the switch control levers by either using a push pin remover or another wide flat-bladed tool. Take out the two screws in the front side shield anchoring points on the seat cushion frame and then detach the recliner handle by taking out the screw at the top of the handle. Unclip the outboard seat side shield from the seat cushion frame so you can reach and cut the power seat switch wire harness tie-strap if your seat has one. Press the tab at the back of the connector and pull to separate the two halves of the harness connector and receptacle on the power seat switch. Using only a very small Phillips-headed screwdriver, remove the screws fastening the power seat switch inside the side shield and get rid of the switch. Before you install, attach the power seat wire harness connector to the power seat switch receptacle, set the power seat switch onto the outboard side shield next to the seat cushion, insert the alignment dowel into the correct hole and screw the switch back onto the shield so it is snug. In position the side shield onto the seat cushion frame, insert and tighten the screws that keep it there to a torque of 1.5 N.m (14 in.lbs.). Fix the recliner handle and retaining screw onto the backrest bracket, turning it to 1.5 N.m (14 in.lbs.), then place the power seat switch knob over the switch control levers and attach it firmly. Afterward, reconnect the negative battery cable.
