2006 Jeep Liberty Seat Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Seat Switch on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: The first step to serving the power seat switch is to securely remove the battery's negative cable. Take off the switch knob for the power seat by pushing it gently with a push pin remover or any wide flat-bladed tool. Take out the two screws at the front of the outboard side shield from the seat cushion frame, then remove the retaining screw for the recliner handle and take it off as well. Take the shield off the outboard side of the seat cushion so you can find the wire harness and cut the tie-strap if your seat has one. Push the connector retaining tab in and pull apart the power seat wire harness connector from the power seat switch connector receptacle. With a really short Phillips-headed screwdriver, unscrew the two screws holding the power seat switch to the side shield on the outboard side and remove the switch. When you install the seat, plug the power seat harness connector into the corresponding switch connector receptacle, position the power seat switch on the outboard seat cushion side shield to align the dowel in the hole and tighten two screws 1.5 N.m (14 in. lbs.). Attach the side shield for the outboard seat cushion to the frame and screw it down to 1.5 N.m (14 in. lbs.). Secure the handle and its screw back into the recliner, using 1.5 N.m (14 in. lbs.) of torque and then put the power seat switch onto the switch control's levers and press until it clicks into place. After that, reconnect the battery negative cable.
