2004 Jeep Liberty Seat Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Perform a Seat Switch Replacement on the Right Power Seat on 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before you change the power seat switch, first separate and shield the negative battery terminal. Use either a push pin remover or a wide flat-bladed tool to open the power seat switch knob from the control lever casing. Remove the two screws under the seat cushion nearest the front of the boat and then pull out the screw securing the recliner handle, plus remove the handle. Take the shield at the side of the outboard seat off from the seat frame and the wire harness and connector should be exposed underneath. Pull the connector retaining tab on the power seat wire harness connector and separate it straight from the power seat switch connector receptacle. Take out two short Phillips-headed screws holding the power seat switch at the inside side panel of the outboard seat cushion with a very short screwdriver, then pull out the switch. To set up the power seat switch, reinsert the power seat wire harness connector into the power seat switch connector receptacle, fit the power seat switch onto the side shield by the outboard seat cushion, insert the alignment dowel into position and tighten the two screws to 1.5 Nm (14 in. lbs. in the inside of the side shield. Carefully fit the side shield for the outboard seat cushion onto the seat cushion frame and tighten it down with the two screws to 1.5 Nm (14 in. lbs.). Fit the recliner handle on its mount and turn in the retaining screw to 1.5 Nm (14 in. lbs.) before positioning the power seat switch knob onto the switch control levers and firmly pushing until it clicks into place. Afterward, reattach the negative battery cable you removed before.
