2006 Chrysler Crossfire Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service an Air Bag Sensor on the Left Side on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Start the left side impact sensor service by removing the door sill plate by simply pulling it upward to free it from its clips. Place the seat all the way toward the back, then undo the seat track bolts located in front. After that, pull the seat forward as far as it will go, tilt the seat back down all the way and remove the rear bolts from the seat track. Subsequently, take out the bolt holding the seat belt in place and unattached the negative battery cable, enough time for the capacitor to drain its energy. Reset the seat's forward position, slip the cables off, access the bottom by leaning back and gently take out the seat from the car. At the passenger compartment rear wall, use your hand to remove the retainer button-it will easily come off when you do not pry on it. Fold back the carpet over the center of the door sill so that you can reach the side impact sensor and hold it up whenever necessary. Detach the side impact sensor harness connector and don't harm the squib connector. Release the two bolts that tie the side impact sensor to the body cross brace and take out the sensor. During installation, take off the negative battery cable first and give the system capacitor time to discharge for two minutes. Attach the new side impact sensor to the body cross brace and tighten its bolts to 12 N.m (106 in.lbs.). Connect the side impact sensor harness and then arrange the carpet so it is completely on the floor. Slide the carpet hold down button onto the pedal, then set the front seat in place and plug back in the power seat connectors. Screw on the seat belt bracket bolt, making sure it's tightened to 35 N.m (26 ft.lbs.), then fasten the rear seat track bolts which need to be tightened to 50 N.m (37 ft.lbs.). Reconnect the negative battery cable for a moment, move the seat to the back as far as it can go and once more, disconnect the battery's negative cable. Attach the front bolts to the seat track, giving them 50 N.m of torque (37 ft.lbs.). Lower the door sill plate down over its retaining clips and let the curtains settle into place. Insert the ignition key. Do not link up the negative battery cable yet and do the Supplemental Restraint System verification test after working on any part of the Supplemental Restraint System.
