2006 Chrysler Crossfire Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Control Arm on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: After raising and supporting the vehicle, take out the front wheel and tire. Once you have done that, take out the front spring and the shock absorber lower mounting nut and bolt (1) and then pull the shock absorber out of its bracket. Loosen the two nuts (1) and remove the clamp attached to the sway bar of the lower control arm, then remove nut (2) connecting the lower control arm to the lower ball joint. Safety warns against fixing the bolt on the special tool with pneumatic tools. Insert Special Tool 9168 Ball Joint Puller (1) inside the lower ball joint stud, push it out of the steering knuckle and support the lower control arm before removing the fasteners. Capture two bolts (1) allowing you to get the lower control arm out from underneath the frame. Put the lower control arm onto the vehicle and join it to the frame with the two bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to 120 Nm (88 ft. lbs.). After that, attach the nut (2) to the corner of the lower ball joint at the steering knuckle, using 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.) of torque and install the sway bar clamp and its bolts (1) to the lower control arm, with 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) of torque. After that, add the bolt and nut to the lower control arm, tightening the bolt to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.) and then install the front spring (1). After that, return the vehicle to normal height, check the wheel alignment and reinstall the front wheel and tire assembly.
