2006 Chrysler Crossfire Ball Joint Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Ball Joint on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Start by jacking up and propping the vehicle, then take off the front wheel and its tire. After that, take off the front disc brake caliper (1) and the front disc brake rotor (1). Carefully pop out the three hex screws on the front dust shield, along with the front spring bolt and front shock absorber to release the front dust shield. Make sure not to anything to tighten the bolt on Special Tool 9168 Ball Joint Puller (1) when taking the outer ball joint out of the steering knuckle. You can also use Special Tool 9168 Ball Joint Puller (2) to press out and remove the upper ball joint stud from the lower control arm. Wash the ball joint tapered bolt and the hole in the steering knuckle, then put the lower ball joint into the steering knuckle and control arm using the bolt and fasteners. Tighten the one nut (1) and then the other (2) by turning them to 105 Nm (77 ft. lbs.). Place the front disc brake dust shield with three hex bolts (1) and after that the front disc brake rotor (1) and the front disc brake caliper (1). First, attach the compressed front spring and the front shock absorber bolt and nut (1) and finally put back the front wheel and tire assembly.
