2006 Chrysler Crossfire Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: The first step is to remove the negative battery cable and then drain the coolant into an acceptable container. Take out the radiator as well as the radiator fan and then get rid of the accessory drive belt and the starter. Lock the flywheel by inserting Special Tool 9102 Flywheel Locking Tool into the starter opening. After that, unbolt the vibration damper bolt and remove the vibration damper from the crankshaft. Check the seal in the front crankshaft for leaks and change it if you spot any oil leaking. Make sure the area that touches the engine is flat by hand sanding with emery paper or an oil stone. Take the vibration damper bolt and replace it if it measures more than 78 mm. Place the vibration damper on the crankshaft in front, put engine oil on the threads, secure the bolt with 200 Nm of torque and add an additional 90° turn. Install the accessory drive belt, the radiator and fan unit and aspirator, then eliminate the Special Tool 9102 Flywheel Locking Tool. Following this, reinstall the starter, attach the negative battery cable, turn on the engine and be sure there are no leaks.
