2006 Chrysler Crossfire Mass Air Flow Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Mass Air Flow Sensor on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Disconnect the negative battery cable as the first step in Mass Air Flow Sensor service or repair. Grasp the engine cover at both corners and pull up so that it easily comes off. Take the harness connector off the MAF/IAT assembly and take out the vent hose too. Use a tool to disconnect the MAF from the intake by pushing each tab so it moves away from its locked place in the MAF. Press the tab underneath the MAF with the right equipment to unlock it from the intake and press the tab near the top of the MAF to unlock it from the intake manifold. Lift the MAF out of the intake manifold, examine the insides, change the sealing ring if needed and replace the MAF locking tabs and sealing ring at the air inlet, if required. First, apply pressure when inserting the MAF into the throttle body and then lock the two tabs on both sides to the manifold. Place the upper locking ring and tabs correctly over the intake tabs and use one hand to lock the mechanism against the intake. Return the vent hose to the MAF sensor and then insert the MAF/IAT harness connector. Cover the engine with its top plate, making sure the retaining clips fit over the rubber mounts and then secure everything by carefully pressing. If you like, rub a small amount of lubricant on the rubber mount for easier mounting.
