  A: It's necessary to take out the intake manifold before servicing the knock sensor. Detach the wire harness connector from the knock sensor on both cylinder heads and then use a wrench to remove the retaining bolts and remove the knock sensors from the engine block. Always remember to tighten the knock sensor bolt with more torque than recommended for other sensors, since this can strongly affect driveability. Attach the knock sensors to the engine block near the top tanks and use 20 N.m (15 ft. lbs.) of tightening force for the retaining bolts. Reconnect the connectors in the wire harness and set back the intake manifold.
