2006 Chrysler Pacifica Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Rocker Arm on 2006 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Service and repair of the rocker arm assembly require removing the cylinder head covers and locating the rocker arm assembly and its rocker arms. Loosen the bolts holding the rocker arm assembly in place, then take out the assembly. Make sure you do not turn it over, as this can pull air into the lash adjusters. Start by removing the rocker arm and shafts, then withdraw the dowel pin with a 4 mm screw, nut, spacer and washer, so as not to reuse the pin. Check if the rocker arm mounting part of the shafts is damaged and, if so, clean the oil holes in the shafts to prevent clogs. The intake and exhaust rocker arms are distinct, so identify them before the disassembly and inspect for roller scuffs, wear in the bore, missing pads, cracks and protruding axles. If you spot these, change the assembly. Keep the lash adjuster attached to the rocker arm to prevent harm during installation. As you fix the system, fit the shaft with fresh dowel pins, rocker arms and pedestals, ensuring the pins are pushed all the way in to the rocker shaft in the pedestals. While it is possible to set up the rocker arm and shaft before the cylinder head, most engine builders do it after. Place the camshafts in the neutral point to lower valve spring load and be sure the rocker arm and shaft assembly has the identification marks facing forward for the left head and toward the back for the right head as you install it. Firmly bolt each rocker arm/shaft in turn to 31 Nm (275 inch lbs.) and put the cylinder head covers into place.
