2006 Chrysler Pacifica Timing Belt Tensioner Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Inspect a Timing Belt Tensioner on 2006 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: The first thing to do is remove the timing belt before you take out the timing belt tensioner. After that, remove the pivot bolt from the oil pump housing to take the timing belt tensioner pulley and bracket off. Open the hydraulic tensioner and look for leaking fluid around the plunger seal; if you find leakage, replace it. Tensioner pulley along with bracket and pivot bolt should be worked on all as one; if the pulley feels loose, seized or is rough, it needs to be changed. Ensure you inspect both the pulley bearing and seal and change them if needed and check that the pivot bolt slides smoothly in the housing, then replace the whole assembly if it becomes seized or very loose. Install the timing belt tensioner pulley assembly and tighten the pivot bolt to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.), after which you can put back the timing belt.
