2006 Chrysler Pacifica Oil Pan Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and reinstall an oil pan on 2006 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: The first step to removing the oil pan is to disconnect the negative battery cable, next remove the radiator close out panel, the radiator core support and the radiator cooling fans. Then, take off the engine oil indicator and then remove the top air conditioning compressor bolts. Lift the vehicle and take out the bolts holding the compressor to the bottom bracket, then put the compressor into place with a suitable strap. Take off the bracket for the air conditioning compressor, the collar that attaches the pan's bottom and transmission to the structure and the shield between the transmission and the oil pan. Next, drain the engine oil, unbolt and unlatch the oil pan and be gentle as a little oil could still be left inside. Take out the oil pan gasket. After cleaning the oil pan and all gasket areas, use a 1/8 inch bead of Mopar Engine RTV GEN II at the oil pump joint with the rear seal retainer. Put the gasket between the engine block and the oil pan, position the indicator tube and fasten everything loosely. Tighten the M8 bolt on the oil pan to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.) and repeat the action on the alignment pan bolt as well. Secure the remaining M8 bolts and nuts with a torque of 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.), starting at a different site than the oil pan. Then, tighten the four M6 bolts to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Place the inspection shield between the engine block and the transmission bell housing and then the structural collar. Install the A/C compressor mounting bracket bolts using the manufacturer's torque value, then install the lower A/C compressor and mounting bolts at the correct torque. Raise the vehicle and secure the upper A/C compressor to the mountings with the bolts, torquing each to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.). Replace the oil indicator, radiator fans, core support and shut the out panel. When finished, put the right oil into the engine and bring the level up to the proper mark, then attach the negative battery cable.
