  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Filler Neck on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
    A: Open the air cleaner lid and makeup air hose and before anything else, disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the fuel filler tube cap and undo the screws holding down the fuel filler neck. Lift and prop the vehicle securely, then eliminate the right-rear wheel and inner splash shield half for the rear. If the fuel tank is over half-full, tip it out. Take out the fuel filler tube hose from the tank around the neck, then take out the fuel filler tube assembly. The first step in installation is to set up the fuel filler tube and link the fuel filler tube hose to the fuel tank neck, then tighten the clamp to 4.1 N.m (38 ins. lbs.). Put on the rear half of the inner splash shield, get the vehicle down and use screws set to 2.7 N.m (24 ins. lbs.) to secure the fuel filler neck. Replace the cap on the fuel filler tube, link the negative end of the battery cable and set in place the air cleaner and makeup air hose.
