2006 Dodge Dakota Door Hinge Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Rear Door Hinge on 2006 Dodge Dakota?
A: Earlier, stop the rear door to access and service the hinge properly. The first step for the upper hinge is to remove the lower c-pillar trim. Mark the pillar with a grease pencil at the spots where the hinges will be to make setup easier. Lose the two upper hinge inner bolts and the two outer bolts to break the connection to the hinge. To drop the lower cabinet door, take out the four hinge bolts to detach the hinge. Before installing the upper hinge, mark the center line where the hinge will attach, then set the two outer bolts and the two inner bolts at 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.). Put the door in place, level it as needed and apply the lower c-pillar trim again. When joining the lower half, place the hinge on the marks made in the first step, install all three bolts and tighten each to 28 N.m or 21 ft.lbs. After that, fit the door back onto the door frame and adjust its fit as needed. You should use a proper body sealant every time you remove or move the hinges.
