How to Service and Repair a Rear Door Latch Assembly for Upper on 2006 Dodge Dakota?

Before servicing or repairing the rear door latch, first remove the trim panel. Next, unlock the screws and remove the door handle from the door. Take the upper cable off the handle, then extract the hood push pin hangers from the door and cut the cable off. Take the latch assembly out of the door by removing the four screws. Attach the latch and stick the handle to prevent noise and secure with screws tightened to a torque of 12 N.m (105 in.lbs.). Put the cable hanger push pins back in, confirm they are set well, then attach the cable to the door handle. Attach the door handle with screws and then reposition the door trim panel.
