2006 Dodge Durango Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Master Cylinder Without ESP on 2006 Dodge Durango?
A: First, use the brake pedal five times to get vacuum out of the booster before emptying the brake reservoir of its fluid. Separate the electrical connector for the warning light and put a covering under the master cylinder outlet to avoid brake fluid damaging your car. Pull the brake lines away from the master cylinder and the booster and take off the four mounting nuts that anchor the master cylinder and reservoir in place. As you remove the assembly, be careful not to lose contact with the front of the booster so the output rod isn't pushed on and out of place. When replacing the master cylinder, bleed it first, be sure the output rod of the brake booster is put in the correct place and kept by a retaining ring, so it can fit through the master cylinder plunger sleeve. Make certain a sealed circle is at the point where the master cylinder flange and its neck are together, confirming vacuum integrity with the booster. Carefully place the master cylinder over the booster mounting studs so the piston of the master cylinder slides over the output rod of the power booster before inserting the mounting studs into the corresponding holes. Screw in new mounting nuts and tighten them so that they reach 10 Nm before you attach the brake lines and tighten them to 19 Nm. Secure the electrical connector to the low fluid level switch and fill and bleed the base brake system next.
