2006 Dodge Grand Caravan Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Crankshaft Seal on 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: The process for a front crankshaft seal repair starts by unclipping the negative battery cable and raising the vehicle on a hoist. The process starts by taking off the right wheel and inner splash shield, next comes removing the accessory drive belt and crankshaft damper. Put Special Tool 6341A on the crankshaft nose, gently insert it into the seal and tighten it until it locks, taking care not to harm the cylinder head's crankshaft seal surface. Put the forcing screw in reverse until the oil seal is no longer attached to the cover. Put Special Tool C-4992-2 Guide on the crankshaft nose and cover it with the new seal, so the seal spring is visible next to the engine front cover. Use Special Tool C-4992-1 to install the seal until it matches the level of the cover. Replace the crankshaft damper, the accessory drive belt, the inner splash shield and the right front wheel. After that, lower the vehicle and put the negative cable back onto the battery.
