2006 Dodge Ram 1500 A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Condenser on 2006 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Before servicing or repairing the HVAC condenser, first take out the refrigerant and remove the negative battery cable. After that, take out the connection from the A/C discharge and liquid lines to the A/C condenser, then unplug wire harness connector 8 from the A/C condenser cooling fan motor 7. Take out bolts 1 and 9 attaching the A/C condenser to the front upper crossmember and then carefully raise it and the fan assembly off the lower mounting tabs and flanges. Should you need to, move the A/C condenser and cooling fan assembly to a workbench so you can loosen the four screws 4 and 5 connecting the fan and condenser and remove the fan. In case you're installing a new A/C condenser, pour 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the suggested refrigerant oil into the refrigerant system. If you remove it, attach the condenser cooling fan to the A/C condenser and hold it in place with the four screws 4 and 5, using a torque wrench to tighten them to 2.2 N.m (20 in. lbs.). Bring the A/C condenser and cooling fan over to the engine compartment and set it up, then fit the lower mount tabs 6 between the lower mount flanges 3 and fasten them with the two bolts 1 and 9 to a torque of 10.5 N.m (95 in. lbs.). Link wire harness connector 8 to A/C condenser cooling fan motor 7, next join the A/C discharge line and A/C liquid line on the A/C condenser. Replace the negative battery cable, remove any refrigerant and then charge the system's refrigerant.
