2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Crankshaft Seal on 2006 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: You have to first take off the negative battery cable and loosen the accessory drive belt to fix and repair the front crankshaft seal. Once that's done, clear the A/C compressor fasteners and place them aside, next, drain the system and cut the upper radiator hose off the system. Unscrew the mounting bolts and disconnect the fan inside the shroud before removing the shroud itself, because the transmission cooler line is located in the shroud's lower right-hand space. Remove the radiator cooling fan and its shroud and then the bolt on the crankshaft damper. First use 8513 Insert and 1026 Three Jaw Puller to get rid of the damper before you use 8511 to get out the crankshaft front seal. Prior to installation, make sure the damper bore and crankshaft nose are spotless. Begin with the crankshaft front seal, fit it after using Special Tools 8348 and 8512 and then add the vibration damper. Add the shroud back to the radiator cooling fan before attaching the upper radiator hose. Hook the A/C compressor back on and twist its fasteners to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Then, attach the accessory drive belt. After cleaning, refill the vehicle's cooling system and attach the negative cable to the battery.
