2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install and Remove a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) on 2006 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Start by removing the air resonator tube at the throttle body, disconnecting from the TPS' electrical connection, undoing the two TPS screws and then taking out the sensor. The throttle body should be put in with its throttle shaft pointed into the TPS socket and able to turn a little; if the sensor doesn't turn, put the throttle shaft on the outside of the tangs, ensuring the sensor stays slightly tight in place when it is rotated. After the TPS is installed and attached with retaining screws, tighten these screws to 7 N.m (60 in. lbs.) torque. Put the TPS connector back together and operate the throttle manually to find if there's any sticking before starting the engine. The air cleaner tube must be fitted back to the throttle body.
