2006 Dodge Ram 3500 EGR Valve Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install an EGR Valve and Solenoid Assembly on 2006 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: The front of the right cylinder head is where the electronic EGR valve and solenoid assembly is mounted and an exhaust gas tube runs from the valve to the intake manifold. Before taking out the assembly, you should unplug the electrical connector from the EGR solenoid. Following this, eliminate the two bolts bringing together the EGR tube and the valve assembly and remove the gasket found in their area. After that, take out the two mounting bolts and detach the valve assembly from the cylinder head, tossing the metal gasket you find between them. Make sure the cylinder head is installed facing up and then slide a new gasket underneath the valve assembly. After that, set and tighten the two bolts to the proper torque. Clear any sediment from the joint between the EGR tube and valve, yawn the EGR tube and slide a fresh gasket onto the end of the tube that goes into the valve. Connect the EGR tube to the valve assembly with two bolts and tighten each bolt to the correct torque. Afterward, plug the electrical connector back into the EGR solenoid.
