Before servicing the exhaust manifold, take out the negative battery cable and lift the vehicle off the ground. Loosen the bolts from the exhaust pipe to manifold, then lowering the vehicle to install engine support fixture special tool #8534. Lift the motor so that you can take the manifolds off, avoiding any harm to the engine harness. After that, remove the heat shield and the bolts on the manifold in order and lift off the manifold and gasket together. Wipe down the matching surfaces of the cylinder head and manifold using solvent and finish with compressed air. Check the manifold for signs of damage and if it is flat, using a straight edge, check that the flat surfaces match within 0.2 mm per 300 mm (0.008 inch per foot). For fitting, put the manifold gasket and manifold in their places, put the bolts back and then secure them to two-thirds of the suggested torque which is 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). After putting the heat shield back in, secure the nuts to stop the gentle vibrations from reducing them, but no more than 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.). Next, slowly lower the engine and make sure you do not scratch the wiring harness. Get rid of the engine support, lift the vehicle and screw in the bolts on the right and left engine mounts. Connect the exhaust flange to the pipe bolts, lower the car and after that, attach the negative battery cable.
